Forgot all about the fall colors, since my truck is sitting on jackstands, with the 60's outside the garage. Anyone have room for a rider if I make it on Sat.? John?

If I can throw my camping gear in your truck or car than you can ride with me. I am bringing my son along and the back is full with gear. If I can move the gear to your vehicle I can flip the back seats up. and he can ride in the back.

Its always fun when its not your vechile taking the abuse <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />. Friends can usually get me to do stuff that I may not do it they were not in the vechile yelling "More Gas, More Gas, Yeaaa!" But there isn't to much abuse to take in GW. See everyone there.

Body Damage is Cool
Can someone give me directions coming from the north (Maryland) so I can meet you guys saturday evening/night at the campground? I've never been to GWNF before, so the more explicit the directions, the better.

Also if anyone needs a ride down saturday night who doesn't want to drive they can ride with me, as long as they don't mind a curious chocolate lab.

Well, good. It will be a normal wheeling event. It seems that everytime I go wheeling, I end up wheeling in the rain. I will toss a new set of whipper blades on the truck...

My directions are not going to be the best, but here it goes.

We are going to be camping at the meadow. Take Rt 33 off or RT 81 and go all the way through the city of Harrisonburg. There is one spot in town where you have to make a zig around the courthouse so expect that, you will have to make a right, first left, then left around the square corner, then right back on course as if you drove straight through the courthouse.

Then just keep driving straight. Eventually you will see the Shell station on the right outside of town. That is a good place to stop and fuel up and buy your sandwitches and beer.

Then continue on Rt 33 and you will enter the GW National Forest and come to a mountain. There will be some switch backs as you go up the mountain side. Now here is the hard part. You want to make the first left turn in the switch backs. There is a poorly marked left turn lane in the road on a curve. That is it and if you blink you will blow right by it so go slow and look hard for it.

That left turns into a dirt road and goes around a big damned lake. As you round the lake to the back side you will cross as little concreat bridge thing that looks more like a sidewalk. Once you cross that make a left on a trail and follow that trail to the campsite. Toward the end of the trail there are a couple of whoopy-dos and then you are there.

Your cell phone will not work at all in this area, but we maybe in the town having dinner or something. You can email me and I will give you my cell phone number, but remember it will only work if we are in the town.
