Well I don't know about Rodeo etc., but the locator bars (I assume we are talking about the bars that reach forward from the axle to the frame) on my Trooper are very stout...I have banged them on rocks several times at Moab with no discernable effect.

Although I should relate a little story - earlier this summer I was laying under the Trooper, changing the oil. While I was waiting for the oil to completely drain, my gaze wandered down the underside to the rear...suddenly I noticed one of the locator bars was bent! My mind raced as to what to do to fix or replace this problem...until I looked at the other one and realized they were both "bent", and in fact came that way from the factory... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif" alt="" />
