The 22R from 79ish to 84 is different from the 85+ 22R and 22RE blocks and heads. As long as both of your engines are either <84 or 85+ you will be good to go. There is no difference between the two, even the cam which is widely reputed to be different, it carries two different part numbers from Toyota, but has been verified by Engnbldr's "camchekker" to be the same, right Ted? The swap you want to do will be pretty simple, just don't forget the knock sensor and O2 sensor :-) Enjoy the swap, let us know if you have any issues.
