#1 - My oil dipstick is really loose in the distick tube (I guess from the rubber seal shrinking with age). I know this is a common occurance on older motors *jeesh...starting to sound like a Viagra commercial <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif" alt="" />*. Can this cause any problems like low oil pressure? My truck reads lowish oil pressure and I'm wondering if that could be why. Are there any fixes short of buying a new dipstick?
#2 - The A/C idle adjust screw thingy. You know, the plastic screw with the spring on it attached to side of the intake manifold. I have removed my a/c compressor and don't intend to ever run a/c. How should I set this screw? Should I close it all the way....open it...or what? Any ideas?

Your dipstick wont have anything to do with your oil pressure. Cant tell you about the other, dont have AC

My thought was that with the bad seal caused my the loose dipstick, pressure wouldn't build up like it should......... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Dipstick wont have an effect on oil pressure...but will let you know if your rings ever go bad by shooting itself out of the tube!
If you dont intend on reinstalling the A/C and if the truck doesnt have PS then pull the valve off and use a plug in the plenum. My 88' which is A/C and PS free just has the standard bolt style plugs in the unused vaccum holes. Oil pressure is a result of the clearances in the oil pump and the crankshaft. The dipstick tube having a seal or not will not affect the oil pressure in any way.
Is there a vacuum line going to that adjustment screw-- I can't remember??? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> If there is, then all I think you would have to do would be to plug the line, and then you won't have to worry about adjusting that screw.

Huh? Whatchya mean? lol Im totally new all these rich people creature comforts. The 4Runner has both A/C and PS and Im learning about both systems really quicklike. Unfortunately the dumbasses that fixed the PO motor for her, got rid of almost every vaccum related component when they halfassed it and ditched the EFI for a carb. Won't matter on the A/C idle up, if the VSV is never energized, the idle up valve will never open and nothing will happen. On my (currently) inoperative A/C, I just disconnected the compressor clutch wire, jumpered the low pressure switch and voila, a push button fast idle circuit, hit the A/C button and up comes the idle speed. Turn the plastic knob up or down to set the desired speed.
If you want to remove it all together, jut cap off the vacuum lines at each end and pull the VSV.
