Body Damage is Cool
I just acquired that later style intake and wanted to know what is required to fit this to my 85 EFI 22RE. Can I just swap in the upper plenum and my throttle body? Or is it better to swap the whole assembly. I see that the TPS is different. I have a rectangular plug and the newer one is oblonged.
Thanks
Danny

This is the best writeup I have found:

http://home.comcast.net/~jonmarkstewart/85xcab.htm#plenum

I used the whole plenum- upper, lower, and the later throttle body. I *think* that you can use the older lower plenum but you have to use the newer upper and throttle body in order to ditch the external Air Flow Valve.

The link Harry posted will explain everything and the new plenum will bolt right on to your existing lower intake.

Hi ya Danny! Here is a link I have on the subject: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=63448 ... filter through the usual POR BS for some possible insight. I have one of these late model intakes too but haven't swapped it in yet because I don't have the late model throttle cable. I heard one person say that they were able to use their existing throttle cable but that it was really tight. I didn't like the sound of that.

I think that the only real benefit of this swap would be the simplified throttle linkage and hopefully that will translate to a smoother and easier to push gas pedal. I know how nice and smooth your gas pedal is right now... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shiner.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for all the replies ya'll. I was about to give up and look on my own <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" />
Is there really any positive result that would warrant such a swap?
I'll look at the threads now!
