I just want to vent a little!!
I stopped by a local garage to see if they could install my front lockers,When the guy asks me "What kind of vehicle"?I tell him Isuzu trooper. He says "Why dont you go buy something thats meant to go offroad like a hummer or something"!!He says that" that truck might be nice but it's not meant to be a offroad vehicle"!What a..D!ck..
NOW.......The real question is ....Do you think that a**hole is going to put his grimy little hands on my truck now?? I THINK NOT!!
Oh well thats all
Off to find another place to get an install.

Mike...Why don't you try installing your front locker? I see that you have already discovered the only difference between you and the local wrench are a couple of chromosomes and opposable thumbs. Read through the instructions and take a glance at your repair manual, and I am sure you will be able to handle the job just fine. Most folks get spooked at transmission, engine , or driveline work, but the truth of the matter is, that anyone with some tools and common sense will do better than an uncaring boob with tools. Besides...when you do the work yourself, you understand how things work, and develop a better bond with your machine...Good luck...Mike

Mike,

Part of the reason I think about taking it somewhere is I live in a condo complex and cant do it here.I could go to my parents and use their garage but If something goes wrong there isnt a shop close enough to tow it to.I can see it now ..my truck in the garage and their cars sitting outside. Dont you need a drill press to drill the hole? What about resetting the gears?
Maybe I'll read up on it and think about it!
Thanks

nah, just leave a note on his door that says he missed a perfectly good opportunity to make some money, because he was unable to have an open mind. Congratulate him on that, and wish him good luck with his little business.

Sounds like a great buisinessman Heres my advice, I wouldn't do it yourself. An ARB (assuming you have an ARB) isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world to install, and any gear setup does require some specialized tools. It can be done, I did mine, but IMHO its worth it to have someone with experience do it. BTW when I say with experience i dont mean your normal run of the mill corner garage, i mean a place that does gears on a daily basis. I had Tri-County Gear in Pomona do my rear one back in the day, and a place near here called Pro-Gear did my moms rear end not too long ago. After doing it myself once, I will gladly pay someone else to do it from now on.
