OK....I obviously started a fire, so I'll attempt to throw some water on it. I apologize for the name calling at it was inappropriate. I do think it is inappropriate for any moderator to rebuke a member for something they don't have first hand knowledge of or other background info. Saying things like.." the low fluid level is YOUR problem" and going on to say I "couldn't be bothered with checking it" are inappropriate and rude assertions. I stand by my position re: 4WP on this project, as it took them nearly 5 days to put the ARB in initially(they had to call ARB twice). Technically, the moderator is correct in that I didn't check the diffy level, per ARB manual, within 5 months of paying 4WP over $600 to install something I have yet to use. The ironic thing is that after I got done paying for the recent ball bearing replacement, I asked the counter sales rep how this problem might have arisen, and he confirmed what my Firestone mechanic told me....saying "probably low differential fluid".

Let's all agree to disagree on the technical merit of what I should or should not have done, as I know a good many others feel as I do. As far as the response I got from the moderator on my initial post, I have never been talked to on the internet in such an abrasive, disrepectful manner, even if he was "technically correct". There are lots of ways of stating opinions in a more neutral manner...a hint of diplomacy never hurts.

VERY well said. I don't post too often in here, but I do visit every day, and I've been folowing this thread from the get go. I've learned the hard way in life that sometimes it's better to speak "with a salted tongue" (Don't ask me where I got that saying from but it fits) It doesn't hurt to show a little kindness here and there, it makes it easier if everyone can just get along. Mind you, I'm NOT stepping on any toes here, I see where BOTH sides are coming from, I'm just trying to say that I agree, A little diplomacy can go a LONG.....LONG.... way. Dave

ps, I've gleaned a lot of VERY usefull information here in the past, and I really appreciated the help when I needed it. This is by far one of the best BBS I've seen, there's a lot of very knowlagable people here, and this place has gotten me out of a jam or two, just thought I'd express my appreciation while I'm at it..... Now as Smiley always says ,"I'll get off my soap box now"

I'm not jumping in because I like moderator abuse so leave me alone....LMAO!I take my Rodeo to the Valvoline place to have my oil changed every 3 months or 3,000 miles.I have never had a problem or not yet at least...lol.When they change it I stand there talking to the manager because we now know each other pretty well and likes all the mud caked on the bottom of my hood.He shows me the filter they take off to make sure the old gasket is still there. He also shows me my oil level twice once before start up and after start up.I can actually change my oil myself but WHY?It costs me $10 less but now I have to drive up to the same Valvoline place to have them dispose of the oil and filter.Seems if I'm going there anyway might as well let them do it.If something were to happen to my motor say 2 months down the road I probably won't blame them.If it happens the next morning then I will throw a fit and get my new motor. If you don't check your oil and your motor blows 2 1/2 months later how is it his fault.Basically I now trust these guys because(believe it or not)the same 3 guys work on my Rodeo every time I come in.They know me and my truck and I would think if my motor blew the next day it wouldn't be hard to have them replace it as I have never have had a problem.
I know I drug this out the wrong way but basically it boils down to the shop is NOT at fault due to lack of responsibility on the owner.
As far as Michael being pompus and rude and blunt and everything else that he got called....He is.That is the way I personally like it.If you want to play with the adults then expect it and if you want to be treated all warm and fuzzy go to giga pets.com.It is the Internet and words don't hurt.As far as you know you may never meet anyone on this board EVER so just look at it as a carbon coby computer generated response.

I just want to vent a little!!
I stopped by a local garage to see if they could install my front lockers,When the guy asks me "What kind of vehicle"?I tell him Isuzu trooper. He says "Why dont you go buy something thats meant to go offroad like a hummer or something"!!He says that" that truck might be nice but it's not meant to be a offroad vehicle"!What a..D!ck..
NOW.......The real question is ....Do you think that a**hole is going to put his grimy little hands on my truck now?? I THINK NOT!!
Oh well thats all
Off to find another place to get an install.

everyone take a good look at the above.....yeah that was the ORIGINAL post, somehow this took a wrong turn, i've stayed out of the argument b/c i thought someone would step down, but this is ridiculous, this is the FREAKIN internet, this isn't supposed to be someplace where folks get pissed off because of differin opinions, yeah Michael came across alittle harsh....SO WHAT!!! it's nice to see a little personality, obviously he has somethin worth defending, obviously u do too, but honestly, ya'll are wasting your time dukin it out like this, OVER THIS, it's pretty sad, i think it's funny, but mostly kinda sad.........grow up folks, let it be, and when u say agree to disagree that says, "i'm willin to step down" it doesn't mean your supposed to make your last point, if u agree to disagree then leave it at that and stop takin shots at each other!! it's a waste of an originally innocent thread, if it's that big of a deal...start your OWN thread, i believe mike intended to offer this up for a little humor, not for childish arguments, take step back from the podium guys PLEASE!!

Well I here are my 2c.

Lets clear that we talk about Differencial failure not engine.

If his engine got damage after 6ms thats fine and will be his fault no doubt but we talk to diff.

Let say u don't know about truck and u are not in to DIY staff, so you are going to shop you are paying and expect they to finish the job how suppose to, so u are there and they replace the diff. oil. Well I am opening my manual and is said nothing for checking the diff. oil every 250miles as it says for the engine oil.
It says check the Diff. oil every 15,000miles or 12mts whichever comes first and replace it every 30,000miles or 24mts.
Now whos fault is. I am saying the shop.
Isn't that the reason we are going to the shop, because we are no sure or we don't have the right tools to do it,well some of us as myself doesn't trust and check everything after that but thats is just 1% of the people the rest 99% doesn't do it and they trust the shop and they read actually the manual.

we can agree on this topic forever but we can compare the engine with the diff.

Ivan

I am sorry for using the engine reference.

As far as the diff is concerened the point was ans ARB is to be check at 250 or 500 miles. It was not checked and his stuff grenaded. The point is it was not checked. Therefore the shop is not responsible for him not checking his own fluids.I used the engine reference for the benifit of being simple and I understand it because I myself do not have an ARB(only wish I did).As far as the original post and this getting crazy.....it's getting crazy because people everyday blame everyone else for their mistakes.Be it burning their lap on hot coffee and sueing because it's hot or grenadeing a diff because they didn't check their fluids.Your owners manual gives you what to check and when to check it IF you are stock.Quite a few of us are not stock. When you modify you have new things to check and new things to service. You add a new locker(not stock) you have a different set of rules to go by,hense checking your diff more often.
I'm out of this topic now due to people who are going to blame me because their monitor went dead or their computer fried.Read the sig!

Ummm.... I'm pretty sure this thread has reached the peak of its arc, and we've said pretty much all that needs to be said. I wish all of us could just gather around a campfire and have a beverage -- generally, face-to-face communication settles things far faster than online forums.

I'm gonna stick a stake in this thread's heart right now.... those of you who wish to discuss this further can email me (randii@4x4wire.com) and I'll BCC the other moderators into your comments if you wish.

In the future, if any of you run into moderation issues or policy questions, please take it up with the moderators personally before putting it on the list (We discussed this awhile ago...
http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showf...in=132377&Search=true#Post132377
). From time to time, we get forum flare-ups of cabin-fever ... Please put the safeties on the flamethrowers and push them a little further back from the edge of the table. Oh, and those of you with rotten vegetables and sour eggs at the ready... let's unload and get back to the business of talking Ascenders and Hombres, OK?

Back to your regular programming.... nothing to see here, move along.
