By map out I mean identify and verify all the wires you will be attaching to the 5VZFE harness. You'll need to find them and draw a diagram of what you have on your truck and place them on one side of your diagram that you'll make. The other side of your diagram will contain a list of all the 5VZFE harness wires connecting the engine/ECU to the body wiring. At this point you can begin scratching off all the wires that you have identified and reduce the nuber of unidentified wires that you'll encounter. You'll find wiring in the 5VZFE harness for a few items you won't need. Again, this is a tedious process even for someone who enjoys this sh*&. It took me a few hours just to identify all the wiring and label it, then a couple more hours to solder and shrink and loom the wiring to where it looks like it came from the factory.
As far as cost, it depends on what you're starting with- You need a DMM, heat gun, solder, soldering iron, EWD's, all tools to do swap, welder if you're doing your own exhaust, cutoff wheel for your hood, a place to do this, an understanding spouse if applicable, a friend to hold the other end of whatever while you try to..., about $1000 on hand in addition to the motor for headers, 2.5 inch cat, muffler, plumbing, electrical tape, bolts, tools you'll need along the way, beer, pizza, dope, whatever.
This is not a weekend project nor is it a good learning project for a beginner unless you've got plenty of time and another vehicle to drive. Between the wiring and the exhaust, you could eat up several weekends easily. It took me several months to do this because my wife doesn't share my love for things mechanical and won't tolerate more than one day a weekend.
