It's not a bad job. I think you could get by without a press. The bearings were not very tight on mine. Yours may be different though.

The Eaton style snap rings used in a T-18 can be tough to deal with. It's a lot easier if you buy a snap ring pliers like part number 5768A14 from http://www.mcmaster.com/ . This is a compound leverage type snap ring pliers meant for Eaton style snap rings.

Most places like Napa only sell the standard Eaton snap ring pliers that look like part number 5773A14 from Mc Master. I found that these didn't quite open far enough to remove the rings without resorting to using a screw driver to help, and they were much more difficult to hold open.
