Good onya Nitteberg. There are a large number of 4WD and offroad shops in Adelaide. My suggestion is to get a copy of the Telstra Yellow Pages Phone Directory when you get there and look under 'Four Wheel Drive Accessories' you will find plenty of businesses listed. If you plan on purchasing anything shop around as there is often a fairly big difference in prices.

Sheap, I guess you mean sheep, horrible woolly things that eat everything right down to the roots and generally defoliate the country.

You should be able to hire a 4wd in Adelaide however most are very strict on where you can drive hire cars and will not usually allow driving off designated roads, that means no crawling through the bush knocking trees down or scrambling up rough trails. (This has been my experience whan I have had to deal with hire companies).

Have a good time while you are there, it should be nice and warm for you, temps in the mid to high 20s celsius heading up to mid 30s in the next few days.

Cheers...Craig

Nov 19th is not real good timing, but we may be able to catch up for a drink, depending on what your plans are.
I work in the city, but live about 20kms south. Adelaide's not a huge place but it's quite spread out. What suburb does your uncle live in?

Try this link to the Yellow Pages if you'd like to do some planning before you get here! http://www.yellowpages.com.au/searc...CopyPoint=false&serviceArea=true

Got invited to go wheelin in the northern territory once, got half way cross a river and looked out and saw a big salty just smiling at me LOL. Makes your hair stand right up when you're looking at em almost eye level LOL. Good thing that old snorkeled diesel Toyota just kept chuggin right across.

Sorry have no idea where my uncle live there, do you have phone number, maybe I could call, if my GSM 1800/900hz works there?

Cairns, is that where the diving is god(great barrier reef)?
Maybe I should stop there later on my way home?

The diving on reef is fantastic. If you have the time and money, you'd be crazy to come all this way and not see the reef, or an island or two. It's starting to head into the wet season up there, so you'll certainly get a taste of the tropics. Craig will be able to give you plenty of suggestions I'm sure.
There's plenty of diving off the coast of Adelaide also. An old navy boat was scuttled (sunk) a year ago off the coast south of Adelaide and you can swim all through the bridge, engine room etc. There was a pic in the paper earlier in the week showing how much sea weed, barnicles and fish have made it home. The water is still a little cool for the sharks, but you never know your luck!
Give me a call when you get here on 0413 038 619.
How long do you think you'll be in town?

The diving on the Great Barrier Reef is very good (I don't actually dive but I work with a guy who does).
There are so many dive and reef tour companies here to take people out to the reef it is amazing. Bloop..bloop..bloop

The temps up here are getting fairly warm although we are currently having some relief with a few showers of rain.
Average daytime temps are around 30-31?C and at night about 21-23?C.

If you do stop in Cairns at all give me a call on my mobile 0418 440 961. (I will be in Canberra from 17-22 November).

If you're going to Cairns you need to do a Cape York trip! Shoot, now that I think about it you'll be there in the wet...you won't be able to get to the Cape unless it's in the air...
