Body Damage is Cool
I'm pretty sure Darin is doing the 1 7/8, 2, 2 1/4 combo expanding with a stock manifold.

I have had my 2.25in setup for a while now and recently added in a LCE header. Its pretty, but thats about it for the normal driver. It gives some gains around 4000rpm and above. I hit that all the time but most other people don't. I had once comment that my truck sounds like it has a turbo the way it spools up and how loud it is. Heh, I love it..

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Well, I just ordered a New Water Pump from engnbldr (of course, I will not order from anywhere else) on e-bay, to go with the rebuild.

There went some money for his christmas present.

engnbldr, question: I paid with paypal, how fast can it get here?

So, I think now I deserve a very nice b-day present

DRTDEVL do not forget it is in 9 days

Im a believer in the stock manifold, provides plenty of flow for me.

What exactly is your setup, Darin? I know you like the stock manifold but what about the rest? Stock downpipe & collector? Details, por favor...

*I use the stock downpipe and run 2" strait pipe that is attached at the front cat flange, take it back into a 2-1/4" in/out Raptor muffler and finish off with 2-1/4" out the stock location. Unless 88's are different, the stock diameter didnt kick down to the 1-7/8" until after the cat because my down pipe tapers to 2"...and its factory original with a heavy weld at the ( Y ) Hey does them look like hooters to anyone? The 4Runner has a handcrafted 2-1/4" downpipe...nicely done I might add. Cat is still in place and after the cat kicks down to stock piping and muffler...but we'll be sure to dump that once I get it on the road. All thats left now is upper intake, oil and coolant and its off to the races in the reserected 22R-EB Gen1!! Eeeeehaw

Well, I spent about 3 more hours on it today... Just some Mundane tasks, like sandblasting the exhaust manifold, cleaning up the accessory brackets, more painting, started cleaning the intake, and bolting on some more parts.

I also spent the time to adjust the valves to 0.07 and 0.11:

[Linked Image]

I replaced the starter contacts as well. This is a fuzzy pic of how worn out the old one was. You can clearly see the groove worn into the edge of the contact, even in this poor pic:

I then bolted on more accessories, as well as the valve cover:

Next trip to the shop is scheduled for Sunday, when I should complete the assembly, mate the transmission, and have everything prepped for installation on Monday morning!

PS: Anyone notice the resemblance to the LCE EFI Pro?

Looking very nice! I just painted my valve cover the same color ;-) You need a shiny new 22RE sticker for the front of it though. We really need somebody to make some 22R-EB stickers that look like the original 22RE ones

When someone can show me an original 22RE sticker, I can try and make some.

If anyone has one, please put one on this site or PM me and I will get in contact with you.

I have 4 of them, still in plastic bag. Ordered 6 of them when I got the 4Runners new tailgate glass (sent 2 to Frankenyota for his kindness). Our scanner dont work for some reason here at the house, but if we can wait till Monday I can have the office girls scan it and then email it along. Whatchya think? Be cool to have an outside source for them. Can you print up a color combo of BLACK, RED and SILVER?
