I think you have it. If it makes noise with the cluth pedal released, it may not be the throwout bearing. It would be the pilot bearing. Did you install it correctly? Is there a chance it got damaged? Does the noise change as you press on the clutch pedal? Does it follow engine speed?

The throwout bearing may be a problem, especially if it did not get seated properly. Did you get it reattached to the pressure plate fingers? The 3.2 clutch is a pull-type setup and is slightly different than the normal push-type arrangement.

I doubt you will see anything through the inspection cover. You will probably have to pull the tranny.
