This morning I pulled the timing chain cover off the 22RE and it was definitely damaged. I still do not know how coolant got into the oilpan, but I included a link to some pics of the timing chain cover.

I pulled the oil pan and there was A LOT of plastic and steel in there. I am assuming I need a new timing chain cover, any other advice?

Thanks!

Look real close at those two grooves that are worn into the cover on the straight side from the chain, my bet is there's a real small hole there that let the coolant flow out. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="images/icons/frown.gif" />

I have a new timing cover that I didn't need if you're interested for $45 plus shipping. Shoot me an email if you want it. Those grooves in your cover look pretty deep and it only takes a tiny hole or crack for hot water and antifreeze to sneak through under pressure. I also have a new 22RTE oil pump which is higher oil pressure than the 22RE for $55.

Thanks for the offer on the timing cover. I actually went out and bought one at the local wrecking yard today. Should have everything put together by tomorrow, and then it is cross my fingers time and turn the ignition.

Leonel, I will keep that offer in mind. As is right now means that you are going to have to take all the parts that are laying on the floor in my garage. :^)
