I'm at a loss as to where to mount my cb. There's really no good place to mount it, (well that I can find).
I wanted to mount it above the rear view mirror. But there seems to be nothing but sheet metal for the exterior.
I'm thinking about making my own center console since the stocker is fairly useless for resting your arm on. Maybe I'll make it big enough to put it in there or have a spot to mount it outside on the center??
Any pictures of what you have done?

My buddy and I came up with a really easy and slick way to mount ours. We took a piece of either 1.5" OR 2" flat bar, bent the end to conform to the roof line, drilled holes that matched the ones in the body for the rearview mirror mount and used the holes already tapped in the roof for it. Just pull off your rear view mirror(its a spring mount) unscrew the base plate, put your custom piece of flat bar first, your mirror base second and screw the whole thing down.

I am leaning toward the above the rear view mirror mounting idea, but what did you do with your wires, they do not seem to be easily routed cause the roofliner is so thin.
If I can't mount it above the rear view mirror, I'll put it under the dash like Matt did.
Any pictures anyone?
I like the overhead console idea, just not sure I wanna put that much time into it.

Iam new to this place, but in my trouble of figuring out where to put the CB radio had gotten a idea from a friend to just wedge it between either side seat and the console. don't like looking down at the face, but at least i can see the meter when i play games:D. i thought about mounting it on the ceiling but the only place i found close to the driver seat is near the dome light. yeah i thought about the under the dash idea, but ended when i found out my stick comes to close to the dash for any large model CB's, i have a Cobra LDT 29 classic. i like where it is between the driver seat and the console... does anyone know of a place to order nonstock consoles? would like something better then the one i have...
little OT for this thread, but i have a 1988 trooper SE.

I have a small format CB and it fits nicely under the stock radio.
I bolted the stock CB bracket through the plastic surround for the radio.
I have a larger format CB with a few more features, none of them critical for off-road, but it would not fit there without being hit by the shifter each time I went to 1st, 3rd, or 5th.

I too mounted my CB using the holes in the rearview mirror. It is great because you don't mess up the headliner. However, I extended the metal back and under the interior light. Again this did not mess up the headliner, and gives the bracket more strength. I can literally pull down on it with no problems. It is a convenient place for using the CB.
Good luck
See you out there, Dave

For all the guys that mounted your cb up top, how did you run your power and antenna cabling? There are no sills to run the wires down in the corner of the windshield? Just curious what you did there.
Any pics of the roof mount?
