That's the tricky part...if you end up having to hunt and pick the parts needed from various vehicles etc, it might end up costing you TOO much. What I did was purchase an ENTIRE truck from an insurance company. It was a total. But it was still in running condition. Picked it up for $1,500.00. Took all the parts I needed from it and then sold the rest. Recovered more than half the purchase price selling the remaining parts. The only uncool part about it was the previous owner had been killed in it. So it was kinda wierd shifting that transmission the first time.

I've got an 03 prerunner V6 auto TRD that I am trying to figure out if it is feasable to convert also. I've been told that I need a new tranny and crossmenber for the diff to bolt to. The R&P steering may also be in the way, but this is from the guys in the junkyard looking the the manufactures part number book comparing the prerunner to the 4x4.

So yea, I have the extracab and the tail piece on the tranny is a flange and not a yoke.

I've typed pages and pages of info on it and sent it to lots of people...but I don't have my own website to post it on. And I haven't taken the time to look and see about posting it on here. Perhaps I will. Hey Mech, send it to the moderators here and have them give it a lookover . Always good to see stuff get a tech spot from the guys. Can't hurt! Pretty nice to have everything lined up and to have at it, that's for sure!

I will work on something formal today perhaps. I'd like to make a trip down to the dealer first and rummage through their microfiche. I wanna confirm my suspicions about the Prerunner automatic trans. I suspect it MAY work with the transfer adapter off a regular 4wd automatic trans WITHOUT changing the tailshaft. I wanna make sure I got all my ducks in a row before I write something up.
