Roll Me Over
Also, they this link:

I'm not sure which contacts you have but I was able to upgrade mine with a larger one with more surface area. Can't beat $7 from Roger Brown.

You might be able to start it turning the key multiple times. Eventually, it will wear to the point that it won't start at all.

MINE was at that point, wouldn't start at all unless you jumped it. Which was wierd as the optima was full charge. It turned out to be the contacts, took it to the dealer. 200 bucks later it was done. They were real cool about it, i suppose they could've dinged me for a starter. I just hope the whole started doesn't take a sh*t and set me back more than it would've been to simply replace it to begin with. Contacts were cheap, labor wasn't.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
i just rebuilt my starter last month...it went from starting every now and then and progressively went worse over the course of 2 months...like everyone says its pretty easy and do it as soon as it starts (starts - heh) to give trouble as it will probably not start at all at the worse time...the last 2 weeks i had to live with it as i never had any time to fix it...had to bump start it just to start the T...so, when i would park it, i always had to look for a downhill place to park - lucky for me we have a parking structure at work...i would just park on the upper most part of the ramp - pretty embarrassing @ lunch time

i had ordered the parts through the dealer...gave them my vin # and also the numbers off the starter. first time i ever took off a starter - really easy! a little harder to put back in, but still - too easy! even though the dealer gave me the wrong contact and i had to rig it to work, but it works!

and the dealer was telling me to just bring it in and get a new starter as it was going to be real had to do - ha!

Mine was doing the occasional single click trick. I was afraid it was the starter contacts, too. Even had a Toyota mechanic diagnose that in a parking lot where I was getting jumped (the only way it would start when it acted up). [Oddly, it happened more often when it was damp.]Went by a auto parts place to have the battery and charging system tested and they couldn't get a good connection - even though my battery terminals/clamps looked clean as a whistle, we cleaned them and the problem cleared right up. No problems since, of the single click variety, that is. And that was a year ago...
