If you install the clutch plate backwards on a Æ91, the spring pack on the clutch plate will not have enough clearance and the clutch will NOT disengage. There is not enough room in the flywheel cavity for the clutch plate spring pack (which is different from the pressure plate springs). If it worked properly, you must have put it together right.

If the clutch get burned or overheated several times, it can be weakened and can later disintegrate. Hope this is of help.
