She is pricing like 8 different brands I'll probably
go with lowest bidder I'm not to conserned
with which tire it is as long as it's a load-C.

Right now her spare is sitting on the floor in the back
I have straps criss crossed and laced thru the rim.
She has an inside mount standup type on the honey-do
list,I'll probably remove plastic panel and make a
mount and sink it in fiberglass with her tools/J-cables
etc.But that is way down her "truck list" it has to be
done before Uwharrie in spring,though.
She did not want the outside carrier(she hates mine says
it's ugly) or ugh it's not cute

Lisa had spare under hers but the sidewalls take alot off
abuse and I have seen bent/cracked wheels and cut tires
if you wheel alot.

I'd not worry about the spare tire as long as it
has D-load (like mine) or better E-load.
It can survive a lot of abuse.

My spare in under. I do not want to have
large WIDE expensive spare under the body,
and I am not sure that I can fit 265/70 under.
So, I run old 225/75 spare and I am going to make some
measurements to find out which spare size I can fit under.
I hope I can fit 215/85 - they are of the same diameter
as 265/70 but 215s are much thinner and they will bite less
road clearence. Also, they are less expensive.

Oleg, did you ever get that 215/85 spare??? Any problems with fitting it underneath??? Looks like it'll fit on the 7" wide stock rim, but a 5.5 might help ground clearance even more.

not yet, others mods consumed my cash.
I do not see why it would not fit, stock tires
have at least 1" space place around them, so
I must be able to accomodate 31" as a spare
without problem.

Now that you've had them for a while can you give an update? I've been looking at the Dunlop RVXT for replacing the OEM tires on my '02 RS. I notice they are only available in a C load capacity in the 265/70-16 size, and are listed as 50psi max. On road, do you use them at the recommended pressure for your RS (26-32psi) or something higher? How's the treadwear? Anything else to share about them? Thanks.

They are great, for all-terrain tires. No noise, good grip. After 11K miles, there is very liitle wear signs.

They are very strong on sharp rocks due to their sidewall thread.

I use 29 psi everywhere. With this pressure, they are nice and confortable on road, and they are flexible enough off-road. Dunlops are usually softer than others brands, with this pressure they are pretty flexible.

Thanks for getting back to me with an update. I tried to order 5 of the tires today, just to find out that they are on back-order. I tried Tire Rack and a few local shops. The local Discount Tire shop even spent a good 15 minutes calling around while I was there, but could not find any available. They could not even give me an ETA. Looks like I am going to have to settle for something else besides the RVXT. All the other sizes of that tire are either P or D/E rated

I ordered mine in the local Discont Tire shop.
I also went to the local official Dunlop dealer,
they also had them, but prices were higher. Try
to go to the Dunlop site and find out about the dealers in your area.

Our local Big O Tires also had them available, by special order.

All three shops had to make some calls, but it was easy to find.

What was wrong with Tire Rack ? They do have them on their site, why don't you order from them ?

Oleg

I would buy from Tire Rack if they had 'em. Tire Rack shows "limited quantity" on thier website. When I tried to order 5 (or even 4) I was told I would be placed on back-order without a definitive ship date. Same response at discount tire, who said they even called the main Dunlop distributor. I'll give my local Big'O Tires a try tomorrow.

I went to the http://www.dunloptire.com site,
and used the "dealer locator" option. For Portland, Oregon, they show TONS of authorized dealers. Try to call some of them, I just cannot believe that official dealers cannot get the popular ture.
