from what I gather 3 is your hot 12 volt wire,2 and 4 are power wires that go to the antenna motor and 5 should be your ground,,,,the shorting of 5 to the others in the normal position acts as an electric brake which is comon on motors helps to slow them down faster,, you may have noticed this on small cordless drills like makitas etc when you let off the trigger the motor doesnt spin very long,,,its a saftey thing....Jason

Getting the Wheeling Fever

The part # 84760-60030 is listed for the following models:
Lexus LX 450 1996-1997 Switch, Antenna 97 Lexus LX 450 1996-1997 Switch, Antenna 96 Toyota Land Cruiser 1991-1997 Switch, Antenna
I have a feeling the switch design may have actually changed for the Landcruiser 1997 model year.

If you let me know which year the switch is from, I can look up the wiring diagram and let you know which wires go where.
TOY4ICK Thanks TOY4ICK! And thanks to to the rest of you two!

Put the switch in. Pulled all my hair out.
Leads:
Lead 1. Positive 12v for the lights Lead 2. For the down button Lead 3. For the down button Lead 4. For the up button Lead 5. For the up button Lead 6. Ground for the lights.
Now, I hooked it all up, and turned the radio on. Antenna goes up as it should. I push and hold the down button, and the antenna goes down like it should. Soon as I release the down button, the antenna goes back up. So now I'm frustrated. To start off, I cut the wrong wire. Cut some small antenna wire (the small one next to the big one inside the dash that comes out the back of the stereo). So I can't put it back together cuz it's coaxial or some thing...wire inside of a wire. So I finally find the antenna wire coming out of the amp that the toyota factory stereo comes with, it was a black wire with a white stripe on it, coming out of the amp.
So if I just used a simple toggle switch, I'd be done. Run one end of the antenna wire into the toggle, then out back to the other part of the wire. But with the fancy toyota switch I "had" to have, it isn't that simple. I can get the antenna to go up and down, just can't get it to stay down unless I turn the radio off, or use the tape or CD player. The important thing is...I got the lights to work.

lead 2345 cant all go to the motor,,,and unless you know how to wire a dpdt togle switch as a motor reverser then you cant sipmly make 1 hot wire make it go up and 1 hot wire make it go down,,,not unless you know how to properly solder and modify the motor with some diodes........leads 2 and 4 go to the motor,,,the switch then sends one polarity of electricity ( thru lead 2+4) to the motor in one position and the opposite in the other postion...my factory switch makes the antenna go up or down independant of the radio being on,,,,and I just ditched the stock one for a newwer cd player/stereo.

According to my information, the wires are as follows:
1 Power for lights 2 One side of the motor 3 Power for the motor (from cigarette fuse) 4 The other side of the motor 5 Ground for the motor 6 Ground for the light (use dashlight ground)
I used your identification numbers. Toyota numbers this switch differently.
I hope this helps and I'm sorry it took so long.

Right on man, Thanks a million. I have some time off between Christmas and New Years to figure this out. Out of curiosity, what did toyota have posted for the leads?
So I don't use the antenna wire from the radio at all. How funny is that.

Stupid Question time... 2. One side of the motor. What is this? Up? 4. The other side of the motor. What is this? Down? 3. Should I just tap into the fuse? Got the lighting to work great. About all I got to work. When I do this, I am going to remove the wheel well cover, and take a look at the antenna unit, wire colors, etc... So hopefully this will go smooth. Again, thanks. According to my information, the wires are as follows:
1 Power for lights 2 One side of the motor 3 Power for the motor (from cigarette fuse) 4 The other side of the motor 5 Ground for the motor 6 Ground for the light (use dashlight ground)

Well if you dont get the function you want from the up down button,,,,ie when you push up the thing goes down....and when you push down it goes up,,,,then just swap the 2-4 leads either at the switch or at the motor,,,it will give the same effect,,,,,and in a few day I might find my manual and give you color codes to the wires if I can find them,,,,,,,one rule of thumb,,,any wire that is black with a white stipe is a ground wire,,,negative lead...Jason
