I just ran across an interesting website from New Zealand. Obviously the info applies to oil sold in NZ, and can't necessarily be applied to USA or other places, and the info is specifically about Toyota diesels, not Isuzu gas engines. That being said, this may be part of the trouble with oil consumption and/or leaks and/or other problems in later model Isuzu engines.

I have no data, but I have never trusted the engine oil and transmission fluids that come stock with new vehicles. I have always changed the fluids on the two new vehicles I have purchased (both Isuzu's)the same day I drove them off the lot. I think this came about from being a bike mechanic in college and knowing the cheap a$$ grease the bicycle companies use when assembling hubs, bottom brackets and headsets. I also have no doubt that the worlds oil companies will <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/bird.gif" alt="" /> people any chance they get.

Hi Guy's
I live in New Zealand and find this article very disturbing to say the least.
You pay good money for a produce & you want it to do as it says on the packaging.
The price of good named brand oils over here seems to high compare to what I see quoted on this site (4litre for $25US of dino oil).
What do you guys pay for 1gal (3.8 litres) of Mobil one?
