boy i sure hope the flowmasters sound better on the 3.0 than they do on my buddys' 22r...not sure which flowmaster he has,but it sounds like he has a real bad exhaust leak..actually sounds like a real sick school bus

it would be nice to get that sound like the chevys or rams when they go by..ya know, the type that gets ya all tingly inside

go dynomax ultra flow stainless steel muffler ,you can't beat it sounds good and is one of the highest flowing mufflers on the market ,and flowmaster is misleading in the name it happens to be the worst flowing one ,do yourself a favor and don't get it

I also have the 50 Series Delta Flow from Flowmaster - really sounds good to me. Stock pipe is still in place, just had the old stock muffler cut off and welded in the flowmaster. Total cost was about 150 for the muffler and the welding and rehanging. Muffler is noticeable with windows open but not too much with them closed. I like to have the back window down just to hear it.

I went with a Flowmaster 50 series also. I got the 50 series because a number of guys here thought the 40 was too loud. The 50 series has a nice deep throaty sound.

corvettelover73, It is a tough decision. I went through the same thing. Lots of research. Lots of audio clips. I forget which member has a site where he has the audio clips of diff mufflers and also some short movie files. I searched these boards a long time and finally went with Flowmaster because it seemed to me more people had them and liked them.

If you like a smooth sound that is not too loud go with Dynomax. Smooth without that sometimes too loud flowmaster pitch.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Yeah I have a 2.5" Magnaflow stainless with stainless tubing as well (I live in the rust belt). I love the sound it makes, nice and deep, not too loud when cruzin in at 2am(lower rpm's), but definateley echo's back at me whenever I go by a solid object on the right, especially on the interstate in the left lane, windows down, seat back, arm hangin out, tunes cranked, tires whining. Nice lil rumble!! AW Yeah

CDUFF7 Go 2.5"!

Roll Me Over
I've had a 2.5" w/ a Dynomax Welded Race muffler. A little louder than Flowmaster since it's a straight-through design.

I was in a parking lot when I heard a beautiful sound. It was a 94-95 4runner with just a simple exaust, It was a real deep sound not whinny. What is the best muffler that I can put on the 3.0L? I want to to sound good NOT like a 4 cyl HONDA CIVIC or some of them Ricer boys cars. I know it isnt a v8 but I want it to sound good by only replacing the muffler and tail pipe not the cat or manifolds.

what would really be cool is if you could find that guy in the parking lot and ask him about his system...maybe take pics..then report back to us so we could benefit.
