Reading your post with montazuma , thought i would add my two cents ,on your radio interferiance problem .
There is a small inexpencive device called ( an R.F.I. Choke) available cheaply at radio shack . It is a cardon coil with anopening .pass your wires thru it several times
and it will arrest ignition noise .Also there is no substitue for a chassis ground . some internal screw /nuts &bolts are not groundedto the frame ,GOOD LUCK .
