The pass side parking brake bellcrank is frozen/rusted solid on my truck and I'm not sure I'll be able to free it up. Is the bellcrank a dealer only item?

Try soaking it with PB blaster or liquid wrench...Grab one off a junk yard vehicle...unless you want to pay the stealership.

Not that hard to disassemble and clean up, just a pain.
Have had to do this myself mainly due to leaving the parking brake on for an extended period of time while the truck sat (I mean months, not hours or days).
Go in there and tear it apart. Clean everything out and use a little white lithium grease (use sparingly, don't want gobs of it that will eventually get onto the pads) on things as you reassemble it. In my case, I really did not need any new parts. More just that crud had gotten in there and frozen things up.

Rust in Cali??? Probably been up in Tahoe a lot. My truck's bell crank fell of years ago. Couldn't attach a new one either, too much frame rust. Toyota really dropped the ball on the corrosion issue on those 2nd gen trucks. Matt

Rust in Cali??? 6 years in North Andover, Mass..... The rest of the time it's been in SoCal or NorCal. I got it apart today after liberal use of liquid wrench, heat and a BFH. Cleaned it up and will reassemble the brakes tomorrow. Brian

BTW Brian, if you happen to need any junkyard parts, check out All Trucks. You are about five miles away from a pretty good Toy graveyard. It's right by the S.R. airport. Took me two years of wandering aimlessly around Pick-n-pull to figure out where old toys around here go to die.

Actually, I'm only about 2 miles from All Trucks:) I live off Airport Blvd - just across 101. Brian
