Sorry to repost under a different topic, but I was afraid my original post got buried, either that or nobody cares:( haha.

I was just wondering if I would damage anything by pulling the rotating secton of the TPS off to try and fix the spring. I think it may have just popped off (i can only see 1 side of the spring end coming up) but I don't want to destroy the TPS trying to fix it. Thanks!

Sounds like you have nothing to lose. I took mine apart, cleaned it up, put it back in. And it worked.

I pulled mine apart and it is thick film resistors on a ceramic base. Not much you can do to hurt ( or help) it so fixing the spring should be ok... I hope... Mine still works. I JB Welded it back together.

Hi Bud, you still live in NY?
As a follow up. I used silicon to hold mine back together.
Just incase I wanted to try to open it up again. I don't know about earlier trucks, but on my 94 the TPS was clearly NOT designed for taking apart and being reasembled. But it worked. Just be carefull.
Sealed up the contact entry points with silicon.
Used dielectric grease on the plug contacts. Seems
to have kept the mud out so far. BTW I've found
you can run the truck without the TPS - at least
enough to get you home.

Haha, thanks, I was hoping someone cared <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> Thanks for the advice, I think all I need to do is pry the rotating portion off and try to reattach the spring so I may not need to jbweld it or anything. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to rip out any electronics by prying on it. It still ran with the tps in it, just idled crappy and had an annoying miss. Hopefully I can fix it!

Make sure you adjust the TPS correctly. You will need feeler guages and an ohmmeter.
