Rumor has it that Mr. Mike Caskey is fixin' to drop the prices pretty significantly on his 3.4 swap kits. He has been sourcing parts from better sources and plans to offer several configurations, from partial to complete (from $$ to $$$, in other words). His goal for the 1st gen 4Runner kit is pretty much a plug-and-play harness (the web site almost leads you to believe they need your old harness as a base - not so). It's being optimized on the 4Runner from a forum member as I write.
Ooooooooooooooooobaby . Savin' up them pennies. Don't ask me the details, call the man.
I'm gonna cruise by there soon and gander for myself whether a tranny forward relocation is really necessary in my application.

Let us know what you find out. I am planning on the conversion since I have another stuck exhaust valve(2nd one in 44k miles), and I don't want to fix the 3.0 again. The engine has been good to me except for the damn valves. I was planing to pay the 2k for the kit(seems easier than piecing it in my self), since I already have access to a 3.4 donor rig. But now that they may lower the price, I will wait a little longer.

Cool. I wonder how much more expensive it would be drop a 3.4 in place of the 22RE as opposed to the 3.0

I would imagine that the biggest change in expense involves the transmission since the W series will not bolt right up to the 5FZE. It is probably almost a wash though if you need to buy an adapter for a R150F to a gear driven transfer case...

So.... if my luck holds out, my motor will last another year and half. By then hopefully prices will drop even more.. than I can put in the 3.4!
Until then, 281,800 miles and counting..
BTW, my crunchy tranny now shifts beautifully after the MT-90 treatment.
Frank.

Hey Bill, Why are you teasing me with this?..... I'm not even done with SAS yet and you already dangling another carot at me...
But if my 3.0 last as long as Frank, I don't have to work on the wife for a while. ....I only have 110K on mine.

hope the prices will be alot lower.
the 3.4 swaps were the best things me and my cousin have done to our 4runners.
btw, any one seen or have pics of the hood scoop that ORS sells with the conversion kit for the 90-95 runners.

Or you could just use the A340F and a Marlin case behind it and be even cooler!
Dang, this swap is enticing. My 3.0Slo is running great, but it's nice to know this is getting even more affordable.
Bill, next time you do this, post specifics! It's no fair to tease us, you charlatan.........

i don't know about yall, but i could never afford, or would want to pay $2000 or even $1000 for a wiring harness.
if i ever do this swap successfully, i would write a detailed write-up of how to make your own wiring harness and would SHARE it for free.
