Its also likely the tranny/engine need to be moved forward about 3" in the first gen. My aim is to not do so, and use a fan spacer. We'll see. The tranny issue can easily be solved (as you say) with either the R150 or the auto that came with the donor truck, or in my case an R151 to mate with my crawler. The Marlin adapter actually would move the tranny forward satisfying the forward move of the motor. Many ways to skin that cat.

The 3.0-3.4 swap is much easier than the 22RE-3.4 swap. Anything is doable.
