Hey, James...
All I'm thinking here is, if you have to drop the trans, you might as wll do it all while you're there ! Sometimes, the old adage, "If it ain't broke..." doesn't serve you well. Any contamination down that way is bad news, down the line. It all comes as one kit, and you can do it with a floor jack and a breaker bar. Can you dig it ?

Ok guys...
I replaced my slave / throwout bearing about 2 months after I bought my 89 YJ. One day my foot went right to the floor...Bad deal. Luckly I was only few blocks from home. Anyway, I agree with getting the entire clutch/pressure plate/slave/throwout bearing kit. Since you are already have the tranny out do it all. As for what tranny you have check out http://www.jeeptech.com/convtrans/. There are pix of trannies. About a year later my ****** Peugeot BA 10/5 finally went so instead of rebuilding it or converting to the AX-15 I converted to the 904 3 speed auto with the slip yoke eliminator. Only $300 more for the auto conversion than an AX-15 conversion.

Oh by the way. If you decide to replace the slave yourself be sure to get a good set of Torx male and female sockets (impact type is preferred). There are 2 Torx head bolts on top of the bellhousing. After I removed all bolts I relized that I did not have Torx so next day got a set and finished. Now I have both male and female Torx.

Take a look at this LUK Gold clutch site.......lots of helpful stuff. http://www.dialaclutch.com/progoldstorecont.htm

I replaced mine a few months ago with the LUK Gold Kit. They even give you the alignment shaft. The Kit cost $205. to the door and the Master cyl. was an additional $50. You'll also want to turn and face the plate. You'll save about $600. or more doing it yourself.

And...
It isn't rocket science. It can be done, on the cheap, at home. Get somebody for an extra set of hands under there, though. Backing her off and lining her back up can be a drag if you're flying solo. Rit here has found you a not-so-bad price, either. 'Course, knowing somebody who works at an Auto Parts store with the employee discount helps me out plenty, too.
