It will, takes a sec, then will fire up maybe, stumble, if I can get the rpms up Im ok, like 3K and higher but only for a bit then it starts acting like its not getting fuel again.

Check the fuel filter, it may be clogged also, no way to tell unless you pull it though. Well you could pull a line off and check it that way on the fuel rail.

Just replaced the fuel filter before heading out here so I know thats not it. Im pretty sure its the fuel pump, same symptoms as the last two times I've had fuel pumps go out. Just read up and saw I'd been beaten on my last post. I have a vacuum gauge on it and its all checking out when I can get it to idle, I made sure all the wires were tight to the cap and the plugs but never thought to look inside the distributor, does the check engine light have to be on to get codes because I can't get it to stay on while idling to shut it off and check it.

lol...I brought my 88 home on a flatbed. I feel your pain. Replaced the fuel pump and all was good. The truck would start, then stumble, start and stumble, and then finally it would not start at all. it would crank and crank and crank, but never fire.

No check engine light ever came on though.
