Getting the Wheeling Fever
91 Monty 3.0, AT, LWB, 150K---My Monty is squealing. I used my stethsoscope to determine that the noise was emanating from the tensioner pulley....cool, replaced it, old one was shot....noise still there....checked idler pulley with stethoscope....it too was making some noise, not really bad yet, but replaced it anyway....Guess what? Still making noise.

The noise sounds like a bearing about to seize. I have checked all other pulleys for noise and there is none. All belts are properly tensioned. I can still hear some noise from the tensioner pulley for the drive belt (with stethoscope). Could it be possible that the timing belt tensioner is going bad and the sound I hear thru my stethoscope is being transmitted to the drive belt tensioner pulley? The sound is variable with RPM. I am at a loss and going insane from the noise. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I have not checked the fan clutch....All of the other pulleys though....Another item of info is that the noise is somewhat intermittant. On days with high humidity, the noise is present....On most dry days the noise is diminished or not there.
