1998 Cherokee Sport 4.0L Standard Transmission...averaging about 21 mpg overall. Rudyg, do you have the 4.0L engine? If so, how are you managing such high mileage? Did you have a noticable increase in fuel economy when you put on the K&N air filter?

My 82 CJ-7 gets about 18 in the city and 25 on the highway, My 2000 xj gets 18 in the city and about 22 on the highway. My CJ does allot better in the summer with no top and doors though .

But don't be alarmed by the high number on the cj, The guy I bought it from put a MPI and a Jacobs miliage master ignition on it. Plus it has so much rust that its lighter than the average bear.

Yes it has the 4.0L. The K&N kit added about 3-4 mpg. I also tend to shift a little early, so that helps get a little better fuel economy.

Rudy, was the K&N kit that you added the replacement filter? Or was it the new induction tube with the conical K&N air filter? I am seriously considering investing in at least a K&N OEM replacement filter for my 4.0L. Have you done any other mods to increase your mileage?
