Yes, that vac port was properly plugged. The idle jumped a lot when I disconneted the hose to the PCV valve to check it. So I replaced the valve, but it didn't help.

I was thinking maybe my TB needs to be cleaned out? The butterflys are discolored (light tan) & the whole unit looks grubby. Could be it needs to be sprayed down & cleaned.

it's grubby? yeah, a "refresh" couldn't hurt. Really it's not that hard to pull the whole thing off, so I recommend if you're going to clean it anyhow, clean it on the bench. this can be done in a saturday, easily.

Be sure to reassemble the IAC motor piston with a bit of slick white moly. grease (not excessive!) so that it slides smoothly <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

by pulling it off, that way you can be sure that the gasket underneath isn't causing a problem either smile <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
