Please, I am new to this group, I have had a 1991 Rodeo LS for over ten years and loved it. Replaced it almost a year ago with a used 1999 Rodeo LS and enjoy that one as well, though havent had the new one on the trail yet. My 91 was sold with over 131,000 miles on it. My 99 has 83600 miles on it and the engine just blew!! Two of the rod caps went through the bottom pan of the block. I am looking at about 4500.00 (at least) to put a rebuilt in it, (i will not go with a used motor). I am worried this is an omen.... Part of me wants to take the major loss and replace the whole truck. I obviously can't sell it for what i owe on it with a bad engine. i really would lover to hear from anyone about the realiability issues with the newr Rodeos compared to the 91-95 style. Please send me your two cents worth!! Thank you

Engines do not usually just "blow" for no reason, let alone do bearing caps usually just depart ways with the crank.

Can you give some more details? Low/no oil? Lack of oil changes? Over-reved? Over heated? Ect?

Michael

Hey all thanks for the info .... After it was all said and done and $5700.00 later. I have a rebilt long block with a transmission flush and filter change. The new motor is warranted for 36 months. I hope i have no more issues with it as i want to start doing things to it. Just fixed the wipers in front and want to add a stereo. Anyone one ever payed for the Isuzu Subwoofer? The one from isuzu that fits right in the storage spot on the right side cargo area? A lift and Air filter from Calmini is also planned........... What can i say i loved the first Rodeo i had and still am attached to this one........ Glasspack

P.S. Ck your oil every other week at least !!
