Those Olds Diesels were not the greatest -- probably the biggest single reason that we do not see more diesels other than in fullsize pickups over here. The engine was a converted gas engine and had some pretty horrible issues with it.

When GM went to the 6.2 & 6.5 diesels, everyone still seems to think that they are related to the 5.7. The 6.x engines are fairly decent, but the big issue for a swap would be weight.
