Nothing is behind it except the timing belt covers. That fan mount is held on by 3 bolts connected to the head. And you have to remove it to do the timing belt. So in theory you could remove the entire assembly to make more room. The remaining issue would be finding a custom sized belt for the alternator. Because that same belt drives the clutch fan.
