What is behind the bullnosed pulley that the viscous fan is mounted to? Could the entire assy be removed altogether to create a bit more room for an electric fan? Nothing is behind it except the timing belt covers. That fan mount is held on by 3 bolts connected to the head. And you have to remove it to do the timing belt. So in theory you could remove the entire assembly to make more room. The remaining issue would be finding a custom sized belt for the alternator. Because that same belt drives the clutch fan.

I was also considering an electric fan-It did wonders for my old TR4. Which way is the air flow? Is the fan a pusher or puller?

ok guys sorry you missed me but Athens saw the worst snow storm for the last 100 years, everything is ok, I was doing some "community work" for my neigbours, none of them has a 4x4 of any kind, I will post pictures tommorow.
Now about the electrik fan,,, My first option is an ASSEMBLY not a belt driven one. Yes I will use a thermostat, and maybe I have foun also the plase but I didnt have time to check. The electric fans ara alot faster rotating so propably you need a smaller fan and second using a thermo it will no be working all the time.

I will be doing this someday. There's really no room up there for a single large fan. I plan to use two 10" fans so the fan motors will not be even close to interfering with the pulleys on the front of the engine. Even with the stock fan removed there is only around 4" of clearance between the radiator and the pulley where the fan formerly resided.

That is also an interesting idea, a little complicated thow, energy cosuming, Anyway this weekend i will start taking mesurments and also se other possibilities like moving the refrig assembly (+a/c) On the other hand maybe one 10'' fun would be suficient since it rotates ALOT faster that the standard fan at idle speed for example

hmm.. me and my club members have been talking about this for 5 months now .. and .. with the research we came up .. this is what we will have to do .. the clutch fan will be removed , and the pulley that it connects to... will be replaced with a light weight but same size .. so the factory belt will still be used (so no problem with the power steering ) .. then the replacement is a flex-a-lite 27" electric twin fan (the thickness is only 2 1/2" or we can go for 4")..possible 'S' blade upgrade .. it will have the f-a-l variable thermostat (180-240 degrees adjustable).. and we will be running a switch for it so it can be shut off when going through deep water .. we are also debating for possible new radiator .. 29" single core aluminum 3" thick) or 28" - 30" twin core aluminum radiator from "Be Cool" 2 1/4" thick .. well thats the plan .. if u guys got some suggestions .. fire away .. this will not happen very soon .. but likely early next year ..

By problem at the moment is not the fan itself, since there were two options BUT the thero housing and pickup point, wich should be right at the exit of the radiator. My second problem is the wiring since I do not know at the moment if the fan is directly powered or through a relay. I need an electric diagram of a car. After a quic search I made I was told that it would be most likely that I could find a belt, maybe needing to extend the altenator's adj. base a little to take the slack. Any advice on the electrics would be appreciated

about the fan wiring .. it is directly to the battery and it should have its own relay .. Flex-a-lite fan got their own relay that will come with the kit when u buy the fan .. the thermo housing wont be a problem coz they uses copper thermo and it goes in the return line of the radiator (top hose connection) .. then u can run a line for the overide switch to go inside ...
