I dont know how much hp and torque i gained, but the sportage doesnt struggle anymore when stepping on the gas, ofcoarse the acceleration is still governed by the torque converter's spool lock.

Shifter, what lift is that and what size tires are you runnin?

If I remember right, Shifter's running 31x11.5 Mickey Thompson Baja Claws with Dave's ~4" lift.

no sagging on this prototype coils ...
4" upfront (limited by the struts length, but it could have been higher with longer struts)

5.2" rear (was 5.4") 28" shocks..

the sporty is a little angled down... climbing steep hills is a little hard on initial climb but very stable because the front is lower to the ground..

This is somewhat unrelated to this particular thread, but, have we attempted to find out if there is a strut that is made that is longer? I know if you ask those "know-it-alls" at some place like Autozone or one of the others, they will say no - just like they did with my rear shocks... We ought to look into finding someone that has one of the books that shows the measurements of the shocks and look for longer struts. Just a thought. Don't know where we'd find someone with that info....

I am in process of building some longer struts. I am trying to decide how much longer. I am thinking of making the first set 3/4" or 1" longer. What do you think?

1" will be pushing it .. the upper ball joint is already on an uncomfortable position after the 4" lift .. unless ur going to make a bigger stirring knuckles too .. if u do make bigger steering knuckles might as well start designing some drop brackets for the controls arms and bolt on brackets for the rear shock mount ..

I was thinking of no more than 1" without lowering the lower A-arms and raising the upper ball joint. I think Dave's 4" lift kit relocates the strut down about 1 1/8" and there is a slight rub on th CV boot at full droop.

I think that I can make these struts up to about 4" longer than stock but the stroke will be only about 1/2" longer than stock.

Personally, I prefer as little lift as possable for the tires so I will probably end up with 3" in the front and the rear air adjustable from 2" to 6"...........

I have 3.5" lift up front and I feel I am pushing the limits. It was real hard to get the struts in there with the lift, but it looks nice.
