Actually....31x10.5x15 should fit a 4x4 with no rubbing as I have a set of these on my 2wd and they work fine. I only get a small rub on my driver's side due to my sagging torsion bar, and that's only when I'm at full lock turning left into a sloped driveway(if I slow down it doesn't happen). Once I either crank(.5" will do it) or replace my bars I don't envision any rubbing at all.
Also, the little bit of rub that I get is not the mudflap, it occurs higher in the wheel well on the plastic ridge above the mudflap.

Turn your wheels all the way in one direction and look and see how close they are to rubbing. Inner on one side. Outer on the other. If you get a wider tire, you will probably need new wheels also. If you go with a mild body lift you would be able to achieve a wider tire for much less than a suspension lift.

O.K., on your current rims you can go a little taller.
Be aware this will steal low end power and screw up your odometer reading and you may need a suspension lift.
HD T-bars and AAL's at the very least. You can re-gear and restore low end power.
If you just want to go wider you need to get 8" wide rims.
Now you get into backspaceing issues...
Are you doing this for looks or do you need the added width and height?
BTW, nice looking truck, I like that color!

Just doing it for looks....(thanks on the color - and surnlykid is right about the color). Ok - so with only backspacing issues being the problem, I can go wider but shouldn't go taller, correct? I have a friend who said he'd do the body lift for me (was thinking 2") if I wanted it, but didn't I read with an automatic you get into having issues with the steering column or drive shaft or something? I have a friend who said he'd do the body lift for me (was thinking 2") if I wanted it, but didn't I read with an automatic you get into having issues with the steering column or drive shaft or something? Proper backspacing on a wider rim will allow you to run wider tires. A suspension lift ( T-bars and springs ) plus wider rims will let you run both taller and wider tires. I did a 2 inch body lift and there is some cutting of the firewall plate around the steering column, but a small jigsaw solved that. Also had to weld an extension on the 4x4 shifter to avoid cutting the sheet metal of the body, which makes the boot not fit right. Body lift is cheap but takes a lot of hours and I still have a squeek in the cab behind the drivers side.
96 T100 4x4 - 35's, 4" SL, 2" BL, 4.88s, ARBs, custom bumper & E9000 winch, etc.
99 F-350 4x4 superduty supercab turbodiesel longbed
