Help w/tires for T100 #388216 01/27/04 02:08 PM

Ok yall - help a girl out here. I just bought at 98 T100 SR5. I'd like to put wider (possibly bigger too) tires on it. What's the best all terrain tire size I can get without scrubbing? I may do a lift later, but in the meantime...any help would be appreciated for what I've got at this point. Any particular brand you recommend also? Thanks in advance!

anything above 31x10.50-15 or 265/70-16 will rub if you do not get a mild lift, pound the fender seam or something similar.

fwiw, i'm running 265/75/16 bfg at's on factory steel wheels. No lift necessary, no rubbing at all, during full turns or otherwise. If completely flexed out i can stuff them all right but i don't wheel with this vehicle. If i ran 285's i'd definitely need a boost but for a stock vehicle, the 265's fit fine for me.

If someone can instruct me how to post a pic, or direct me to an idiot friendly link, or pic faq, I'd be glad to put one up!

Thx

For a newbie, the best advice I can give you is to utilize the search feature. Amost every topic you can think of has been discussed before, especially tires. When I bought my T it had 32x11.5x15s on it and they didnt rub, but they worn down to the illegal point so I dont know if they rubbed when they were new.

...and I bought 32x11.5x15s and could still dent the fenders after removing 1" of sheetmetal, so go figure. Best plan might be to decide what size you want to run and build from there or try an appropriately backspaced 31x12.5 Swamper. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/coolg.gif" alt="" />

Thanks everyone also - I'm guessing with all of these (31x10.50-15 or 265/70-16 or 165/75/16) that I'll need to remove the mudflaps, correct?

Your mudflaps should not get in the way.
Your '98 should have 16" rims, 265/70/16's will work fine.
If you have 15" rims go with the 31/10.5/15's.
I hope this helps.
