Bad Intake Manifold Gasket... #390948 01/31/04 05:36 AM

Based on my post: "Dreaded "Check Engine" light..." it appears there is a chance that I am looking at a leaky Intake Manifold Gasket...Some technical advice please:

Under the NY Sate Used Vehicle Limited Warranty (60 days) from the dealer, I have til this coming Tuesday to get it in to them for coverage...

If indeed this would be covered...

Covered parts under the Power Train:
A.Engine
block
cylinder head
engine and all internal parts
flywheel(only on cars with automatic transmissions)
fuel pump
manifolds
rotary engine housing
water pump

"If your engine, transmission, drive axle, brakes, radiator, steering, alternator, generator, starter or ignition system (excluding the battery) are defective, the dealer or his agent must reoair or, if he so choses reimburse you for reasonable cost of repair."

Does a defective Intake Manifold Gasket fall under this warranty at 46,000 miles?? Anyone??

I know in reference to my own ride (99 rodeo) it was covered under the powertrain warranty. Also your Trooper should be covered until 5yrs/60,000 miles, according to Isuzu. Good luck in getting this solved

OOOOK...A little carberator cleaner sprayed around the intake manifold gasket area brought on the telltale engine response...and flickering check engine light...

Wish me luck with the dealer...

Why not? Is that some funky NY law? When I bought my Rodeo second hand, the warranty came with the car.

IIRC in NY the warranty dosn't come with a car (when you buy it used), unless dealer chooses to give you one.
You can always buy an extended warranty, but they are realy expensive in NY.

I take it back... Per Isuzu, the 5 year/60K Powertrain warranty is applicable...and the intake manifold gasket most certainly is covered...

Dealer initially told me they were booked thru next week, then told me I could indeed drop 2nite- but no promise they would get it done tomorrow!!...I'm working on getting a loaner from them right now...

Make sure they do BOTH gaskets. Granted only one is likely leaking now. However the other one cannot be that far behind. No sense in waiting for it to go bad later (maybe after the warranty expires?) when Isuzu knows now that they put out a bad original gasket design.

Good heads up, central...How you think that logic will fly?
