The manual for a 1990 calls out Mitsubishi Plus ATF or , Dexron or Dexron II.

Dexron III is an acceptable replacment. (edit) and as Lloyd points out in the next post ATF+, or Diamond SP appear to work as well ( I have never tried them but other report good results). I have run Mobil synthetic in my 87 auto with good results and plan on using it in my 91 tranny. ATF type gets a lot more important when you get to models with electronic shifting and feedback.
