Yeah, Ive been busy, and not able to keep up this year, especially being on the road a lot... But the guys doing this countdown have done alright, with occasional guidance.

But we have eclipsed 100 posts on the thread finally...

And three weeks to check in people. WHOOHOOOO

One reason for some of the mistakes could be because there are far fewer people involved in the countdown this year it seems. I remember the last few years that if you wanted to be involved in the countdown, you would have to post just after midnight. Here it is about noon.

With all that being said....20.

Hmmm... May 10, eh? That being Monday. Well, we plan to spend my bda (Sat) mtn biking, and Moms day on the river rafting, no decision yet for Mon, need to pre-run Seven Mile with a trail leader on Tues.

Im up for suggestions on Monday... We did the Northern Canyonlands last year, mebbe the Southern area this time? Elephant hill sounds cool. Unfortunately, FUEL could be an issue...

Then there is the closer trails to town that are entertaining... Behind the Rocks, Golden Spike (LONG!), Strike Ravine, etc... go figure.

I will be available Monday - will arrive sometime Sunday (although my sleep schedule will be screwed up because it looks like I will be on nights the week prior, into Saturday morning the 8th...), and I would love to do Elephant Hill again. I really enjoyed it two years ago. It is a bit of a drive, but that doesn't matter after driving 1200 miles to get to Moab in the first place.

If FUEL weren't an issue I'd suggest the WEST side of Canyonlands ... Poison Springs Road ... 55 miles (one-way) of BADASS!! GREAT views, very interesting trail, though not challenging until the last 1/3. The view of the Maze at the end though .... WOW

(Did it myself this winter - solo - - and thought I'd run out of gas - that 55 miles to 4-4.5 hours ).

Oh, yeah ... almost forgot ...

19...

I am torn, on one hand I like the idea of scenic and new, and the other I am leaning towards familiar and less change of fuel issues...

I could be persuaded either way. My passenger has never been on a trail or to Moab...the scenery would be fun but so would a little practice on the trail But I remeber the issue with gas from discussions last year and don't like the idea of being stranded.

Ah well, that's one nice thing about the 30 gallon gas tank in my Hoe...

The Slot hike on the Elephant Hill trail is a real treat if you haven't seen it before...of course, there are many, many spectacular things to see in the area. I am open to almost anything.
