It's all a big love-fest in here. Of course, that's because all my posts stating what draconian nazi's on a power trip all you moderators are keep getting deleted. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/ignore.gif" alt="" /> It's a joke, people. (I've learned to put that dislaimer on my posts.) <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> Biggest belly laugh of the day <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> Thanks for the levity! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> Randii

Hmmmmmmmmmà A place where the members could go to freely post their deepest & darkest abstract thoughts? Yeah, I can just see it nowà First will come the philosophical and political debates, wherein many-a-personal-idiom will be beaten black-and-blue. --- And this will unavoidably be followed by the theological ruminations of the legitimately devout and the warped crack-pots alike. --- Very soon after that, countless people who have always previously respected and appreciated one another will be at each otherÆs virtual throats. --- And then the next thing you know, itÆll be the Hatfields versus the McCoys in a Tag-Team Texas Cage Text Death Match, with behind-the-scenes alliances to the NRA on one hand, and PITA on the other.
(Oh, and of course, at some point we would undoubtedly have a wild card show-up and provide everyone with the æBob linksÆ to The Church of the Sub-Geniusà while yet another would quickly shout-that-down by spouting the joyous enlightened fulfillment of following the path of æPeace, Love, and Donnie OsmondÆ.) <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />
Since this might appear to be the opinion of a rather dark futurist, I want it known that I have a great deal of respect for my fellow Isuzu owners, and hold each one of you in the very highest regard; but honestly, just about the last thing in the world that I need is to have the nagging concern that I might one day inadvertently enter into a conversation that eventually lead to the word æAmwayÆ. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" />
And hey, what about THIS: Beyond what I already manage to sneak into just my æIsuzu-relatedÆ posts, with an open-topic forum available, here are three words to consider: An Unexpurgated Smiley! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />
YÆall think about it. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/pfft.gif" alt="" />
Cheers! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> Smiley
Six Isuzus, so far... still have three of them.

I pretty much agree with what everyone said about moderation issues...
I just wanted to comment about the newbie needs to do a search first issue-
I've found the search function here to be kinda difficult to use. Before the forum upgrades, it seemed to be not sensitive enough, and now it seems to be too sensitive, and throws in dozens of threads that have nothing to do with my search. Someone already brought this up in the forum questions forum, and solution given was to experiment, play around with it for a while- which newbies looking for a quick answer aren't likely to do.
So maybe we need to put some actual search tips up there on the search page. Or maybe we can get one of those 'search by google' engines for the wire. And hopefully that will cut down on askin and answering the same questions over and over.
And I'm not quite sure what unexpurgated means, but I think I'm scared if it means- he's going to make EVEN LONGER POSTS? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />
Anyways keep up the great work mods <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Is there anyway to possibly start the OT forum and have mods that only have the mod privelage for that forum? If so I would be more than willing to take on the challenge. I would like to see an OT section, as many of the OT discussion here interest/humour(sp) me....

I would like to see an OT section, as many of the OT discussion here interest/humour(sp) me.... The problem with this is that moderation is a group effort. Not to be too big brotherish, but many of the mods at 4x4Wire surf other forums besides their own. This allows us to give head ups to those mods when problems arise. Your willingness is appreciated, but the responsiblity and the subsequent problems that arise (trust me, they will arise) bleed over and become more work for other mods and the admins of this site. Really, if you want off-topic, there are other sites to visit. I believe that Smiley did or does have a site that would fulfill this niche. Even some of the boards here are available to anyone, even if they are under the header of a brand. It is also combined with the fact that we have really discussed this and the answer at this time is no. Michael

In case this thought has already been covered I am sorry for being redundant but Smiley posted up yonder there so I just skipped to the bottom...LOL.
In order to cut down on the Off Topic chat is it possible to put in a real time chat dealy-o like over on the VX board. If you have off topic stuff to chat about then there ya go!
I'm sure it would probably turn into lude sexual stuff in time but I've seen some of the rides with their tires off.... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/coolg.gif" alt="" />

I agree that, aside from some funny jokes here and there, and some interesting conversation, an OT forum would do nothing but harm. if you want to talk to your fellow wire-mates about exotic cars, favorite beers, religion, ethics, women, etc., go to a group trail run and dicuss anything you want in front of a warm fire over some hot grub and cold beers. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Some of the conflict seems to come from a few things that are just not debatable. But the definition of Talk is Isuzu related talk. It is not an off-topic or open chat board. We (and those mods before me) have decided to keep it that way. Michael
While I don't mind the occasional off topic thread, this is the rule and then so be it. What I do have a problem with is the inconsistancy of the enforcing of it. I will state a few current examples. And by no means is this an attack on the creator of the thread. One locked thread is a Valentines Day question. No problem since by rule it is not Isuzu relatedNow we have one on a virus alert that is not locked. While a noble gesture to the rest of us it is NOT Isuzu related and should not have been left open. There was a thread last week about "how not to tow" showing the back end of a car being torn off. I'm assuming it was deleted as I went back the same day and couldn't find it. I might have missed it, if so I appologize in advance. But hey this was a lot closer than any of the above two. Last year JasonB posted a Christmas thread that was locked. Everyone talks about being a "family" yet you can't post Merry Christmas?? My point is there are lots of off topic threads that are left alone. How do you think that makes the person whose post got locked or deleted feel? Consistancy is key to everything. It would let the members know what is acceptable and what is not, what is Tech and what is Talk. But it all seems to depend on what side of the bed what moderator woke up on. You asked for opinions and that is mine. In the overall big picture I think the board is run great. Especially when you consider they are volunteers. Just little things that need tweaked. Disclaimer: just so the authors of the above mentioned threads know I am not flaming them. Just needed something to use as an example
