A valid question to be sure, but I guess a couple of things come to mind. Had a hankerin' for a V8, and just wanted something different after 4 years with the Trooper.
So...I am buying a 2-door Tahoe. Gonna put a No-Slip locker in there, a mild lift, and see ya in Moab (as an honorary Isuzu)!

I've added a few more items that slipped my mind the first time...some of the stock stuff like the spare cover and mudflaps would probably sell better on Ebay, but you guys get first crack at it.

So...I am buying a 2-door Tahoe. Gonna put a No-Slip locker in there, a mild lift, and see ya in Moab (as an honorary Isuzu)! Steve, Looks like they totaled the body. Correct? Are the mechanical pieces ok? If so,,, then why not pull the body off with the parts and pieces and put on another body. I have gotten Trooper bodies for next to nothing, and compared to the cost of a TaHoe with fiancing. A heck of a savings. And just so you'll know, The body mounts are in the same place. Just swap over the entire donor wiring harness (seats & stuff) and it'll run like it did before without all the hassels. And, if you go 1st gen then it'll run better because of the weight difference. Plus, It'll be paid for! You won't need the V8 and all it's poor fuel milage and dealership hassels. I'd rather build my own custom truck than pay some Dealer and Finance Company all that money. If the frame or suspension are damaged then swap the motor and tranny and other pieces that are in good shape. Not as easy, but still a hell of a lot cheaper. Heck, I have a Trooper body I got for free! Nothing cooler than an upgraded 1st Gen Trooper in my opinion. If I had my new shop built I'd buy the whole truck and do it myself. Did I say,"I hate FINANCING"? CJ

Hi Curtiss!
The front end was fine, the rear axle was toast and the frame was a parallelogram. Lotsa usable parts there, though. Insurance company totaled it and took it to sell at a salvage auction.
I just don't have the time, skill, or facilities to swap all that stuff anyway.
The Tahoe I am buying is is a 97, and is $1K less than I got for the Trooper, so no financing for me!
And frankly, I bet the Tahoe gets as good gas mileage as my Trooper did, or very close to it.

I wouldnt' be surprised, my 2D Tahoe gets around 14mpg with my lead foot and my moms amigo gets about 15 with the same foot. The amigo is quicker, but the tahoe can tow .

At least you don't have to worry about the dreaded oil consumption issue. Good Luck with the *new* truck.
