That's a lot of cash for the same axles you can get at your local junkyard for less than half the price. Don't buy intot the "made for military" crap (definitely not "heavy duty"). They are your standard GM 10 bolts with crappy gears in them.

The front differential is on the wrong side for your TJ anyhow.

I wasnt looking at them for myself. I was just shopping around for a small lathe/mill/cnc setup when I saw them, and thought somebody around here might be interested. I figured under $1k for two complete axles with brakes and stuff was pretty decent. oh well, back to the grindstone.

I am saving towards a set of full size truck axles for my 88 YJ currently running 3.73's with 33's. I'll be doing a spring over with probably 2' leafs and 4.88's or 5.13's on 36" or 37 "tires.

Here's some things to consider as additional costs from your initial cost to purchase the axles. Unless your buying the set with the gear ratio, lockers, etc.. that you plan on running.

Ring and Pinion (2 sets) $400
Installation Kits (2)
Detroit Locker (Rear) $350-$500
Posi/LS/Selectable $300-$500
Bearing and Seals
Labor $550-$650

What I'm saying is that most who upgrade their axles will incur the latter costs.

Not really. I get complete axles at the junkyard for $60 each and I do get heavy duty axles, not little 10 bolts. You might say that I don't know what kind of condition my junkyard axles are in, but who's guaranteeing the condition of these $1K axles? The gears aren't really what I would want for an "upgrade" anyhow.

like I said, I am not interested in purchasing these axles, or any other axles at the moment. I was shopping for a lathe/mill.

condition is listed as "new", but like you say, there are no guarantees in life. I didnt no do any research on the axles, nor did I really even pay attention to the specs, since, like I said, I am not interested in them for myself. I saw a pair of new 4x4 axles for ~$1k, and though "hey the jeep people might be interested". doesnt make a rats ass to me if anybody wants them or not, just passing it along.
