I figured under $1k for two complete axles with brakes and stuff was pretty decent.

Not really. I get complete axles at the junkyard for $60 each and I do get heavy duty axles, not little 10 bolts. You might say that I don't know what kind of condition my junkyard axles are in, but who's guaranteeing the condition of these $1K axles? The gears aren't really what I would want for an "upgrade" anyhow.

condition is listed as "new", but like you say, there are no guarantees in life. I didnt no do any research on the axles, nor did I really even pay attention to the specs, since, like I said, I am not interested in them for myself. I saw a pair of new 4x4 axles for ~$1k, and though "hey the jeep people might be interested". doesnt make a rats ass to me if anybody wants them or not, just passing it along.
