I have an 86 cj7 with 35 inch tires, 258 engine, T5 tranny, and a dana 300 with a twin stick shifter. Right now I have 3.25 gears and I would like to change them to 4.56 or 4.88. I still need to go around 60mph but I don't want the engine to be at red line. I also want to just use 4th gear as the standard because I would like to change the tranny to a 4 speed. Does anyone know if 4.88 will do the trick or will I have to go with the 4.56s? Also is one set better than the other?
