Don't worry man, i'm just having fun. Just a nice discussion talking about how possible (or impossible) it is to get a 4wd toyota pickup with a 4cyl engine up to high speed... and be stable enough to be steering with you knees and take a picture. LOL

I have enough mods to make it work. I've turned every bolt on that thing. I know its tight and its only my fault if I wreck...

BTW I don't care if you all know it was me driving... In AZ you could be going 200 past a photo radar truck and if they don't get a crystal clear pic of your face and licence plate, they can't do a thing. Its come down now that the photo radar itself can't testify in court and say that they have legal juristiction. thus taking a photo radar ticket to court is like the officer not showing up. Just because there are pics of my truck doing 110+ doesn't mean anything. If a cop can see me steadily going a specific speed for more than 3 secs and prove it, they can pull me over, give me a ticket, and see me in court... till then, oh well....

Redline is 5750 in the 4cyl.
I've hit 5000+ more than a few times.
We need to know tire size, R&P ratio, top tranny gear ratio to figure RPM.

well, its a G52 tranny, 4.56 gears, 31x10.5 tires with some wear. Those speeds were in 5th gear.

you are welcome to figure out what RPM I was running. prolly pretty close to 5k rpm.

Just to let you know this modded 22r will hit 7k+ during a mis shift. I got the MSD ignition pretty much just for the rev limiter which I have set for 6200 rpm. I can rev the engine and hold that for several seconds. (clutch in) It does fine doing it and afterward.

EB set this engine up as a high RPM engine. That is what I wanted, and that is what I got smile

I don't have my tach installed because of the MSD ignition. I tried to install a used tach adapter but I think its dead.. I'm just going to have to buy a new one.

I have hit that 108 mark in my '94 when i first learned about spark cut... kinda gave me a scare actually. what exactly is going on when that happens?

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I don't normally speed around in my underpowered oversized tire rig, but last weekend between Denio Jct and Winnemucca, NV we hit the limiter in my bro-in-laws '03 4cl (stock tacoma) at 104 mph at just over 5k rpms. Me being the streetbike variety said it was probly a 5th gear rev-limiter. So we ran up to 104 in 4th (don't recall the rpms on that one, but it wasn't redline) and sure enough ignition cut again. I'm not a flagrant speeder, but this is seriously the middle of nowhere. I think one stretch is about 30 miles, not turns, no trees, just sagebrush.

Using a final drive of .85 (W56 spec) I figured just over 5K RPMs. 5,041.3 for those who prefer exact numbers. No way to speculate tire diameter so I used a full 31" in the calculation.
Just an FYI maaaaan
