Hi,
Well I just got a 1998 Amigo. It is replacing my former 1990 Trooper which has been donated for charity. Anyway i forsee having this truck for a long time since its the exact one i wanted. 4x4 V6 5 speed Soft top. I was looking at all the major isuzu suspension suppliers and read the 4x4wire write up on the Calmini lift install. Anyone have any recomendations on which to use they are all about the same price. The Calmini looks the most complete. Just fishing for some information. - Jason

A 4x4 V6 5 speed Soft top? Very rare. Good find. Most are automatic or 2WD/4 cylinder.
I agonized over the same question. I looked at the Calmini kit and even talked to the rep. I decided on the Independent 4X 3" lift. After talking to a lot of folks, I decided that the added parts and added labor of installing a Calmini kit were not worth it. I have run my Rodeo Sport really hard since the Indy 4X lift and I have no issues - alignment is good, articulation is good, gas milage didn't change much. Feel free to email or pm me to talk about it more. Congrats on finding the model you wanted.
Looking forward to the pics of your mods

I don't know about the Amigo kit, but yhe Calmini kit for the Vehicross has had problems with the rear springs sagging in a fairly short time (3-6 months).

Yeah. I heard others say the same things about the Calmini rear springs, but we're only allowed to talk about first hand experience so I better keep my mouth shut <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />
My OME 912 rear coil springs have not sagged at all since I installed them last summer. The t-bars have sagged a little and I need to crank them a few turns to level it again. I assume the '98 Amigo has coils springs like my '01.

I had the sagging problem with the Calmini springs when I had my Amigo. They did send me out new springs after I told them about the problem. It seemed that the first run of springs didn't use as thick of a metal for the coils and they were not wound too tightly. The replacements were much thicker and wound tighter.
My suggestion would be to go through Indy4x or Darlington and get the OME springs and some shocks. That is how I lifted my Trooper and it was much cheaper and easier to do.
