Since my smoking problem has been slowly getting worse, I've decided to buy the older guys complete truck, and swap motors. I feel he is honest about it and it would be a safer bet. Besides, the other guy said he has receipts for the rebuild, but he also has another truck. Who says the receipts are for the motor he's trying to sell me? Anyway, the old fella says he's firm on his price. Hey, I had to try. Besides, it is a complete truck and I could use it around the place for throwing firewood into, etc, instead of throwing it through the tail lights or back window of my good truck. Plus is has quite a few good parts on it yet that will fit mine.
I think the rings in mine either stuck, or the oil I'm using cleaned out the crap behind the oil rings and now it smokes. Or space aliens from far away crawled inside my engine and are having a party in there. I don't think it's a valve seal problem as it would have to leak a LOT of oil down there to smoke like that, and with almost no vacuum with a diesel, I see no reason for that to happen. I have a Mazda gas engine sitting in my garage now that ran great but smokes like a train. Stuck oil rings. That model of engine was famous for it.
The old fellow said he'd call me when the snow melted enough to get it out. The foot or so in front of it now is like concrete. Warmer weather is coming so I expect a call by the end of the week.
I'll keep posting for entertainment sake. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/notooth.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
