...and why the hell does the Tacoma (and 4Runner) have to be so much bigger? Are we Americans so stupid that we have to repeat the mistakes in the 1960s and 1970s and once again insist on drive giant gas guzzlers just because we are all rich fat and stupid?

I don't care if Toyota wants to build the biggest Tundra in the world, but why totally eliminate the compact truck from it's line up? I guess this is what Americans want. And here's Toyota following the leaders, like it has for the last 20 years.

I dunno, once you remove all that body cladding for the 4x4 model and add some big tires, I think it could actually be pretty sweet. The interior is obviously a 100% improvement from the current version. Very sharp looking. Anybody have pics/specs on the 4x4? Hopefully the same powertrain as that hot rod 2wd will be available!

Watch Jay Leno "the Tonight Show" for answer..

He constantly makes fat jokes about American's increasely fat 's needing bigger couches, bigger airline seats and bigger coffins , etc. to fit in..

Looks like the parts I don't like will come off easy enough with a plasma cutter to be replaced with, oh, a D44 this and a Marlin that. And the parts left will be pretty decent! Not impossible to box the frame myself. As long as the guvmint stays out of my business on what I can build.

looks like a ol school ford f150, i think , anyhoo.. hmm how to SAS that i just think they should go back to 1980's say 84-85 and bring back the 4 runner with, topless and doorless options, let it come with a bored .30 over engine 38 weber have EB parts in it, 35's with rockcrawler rims, winch, beer frig in the back, with 3 12's hooked up to a kenwood system. seriously chick mobile. actualy retail price about 25,000... i guarentee toyotas truck sales would skyrocket...my .02 cents

Brian: Yeah I wouldn't worry about it until we see when it comes out. It would make sense if it was based on the 4runner from what was done in the past, so that would be the best guess.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
It seems like this truck is getting mixed reviews. I can't speak for the rest of you, but for me... NICE!!! As long as it's not a piece of Sh!t, I'll be buying one in the future. I personally thought the current Tacos were ugly ! This one is totally sweet . I'm just picturing this same truck lifted, with a nice set of 31s on it. And just as I was about to give up and buy a Dakota .

Well Brian, if I had to guess, I'd say they were trying to reinvent the mini-truck fad from the mid-80s. This showboat is loaded with ghetto sex appeal, but it's doesn't do much for me personally.

In a word, yes. These things are designed a few years in advance. Not long ago in the mid 1990s, oil was at $9 a barrel. Now it's almost 4 times higher at $34 and change per bbl.

People want what people want and Toyota (and Company) has to meet the market demand, regardless of whether it makes sense to you and me or not.

A few years ago, it was GIANT SUVs that never left the pavement (let alone went wheeling). 12 MPG, but the soccer moms had a status symbol.

It's what they want. And it's not my business or your business if they want to behave like "rich fat stupid" people or not. Besides, if they continue their conspicuous consumption, they won't be rich for long.
